The Swanosaurus

The Swanosaurus is among the most elusive of beasts; once the giant reptile bird was a plague that haunted the swamps and jungles of northern Sulf, these days it is but a myth. Still, young men and women of noble birth devote themselves to the study of these creatures, learning to hunt and kill them. Often, they are secretly sneered at for training fighting techniques that they will never have to apply, for the Swanosaurus is said to be completely extinct. By many, the profession of the swanosaurologist is considered something for coddled third- and fourth-borns who are neither fit for politics nor for commerce, or war.
On the other hand, who knows what the swamps of Sulf are breeding? And so, every semester, the faculty for Swanosaurology at the University of Dorpal not only attracts idle nobles, but one or two bright-eyed would-be adventurers, who hope to push forward into the wild one day and use what they have learned to find the last of these fierce and beautiful creatures and lay eyes upon it.
